About Lance Hansmann

Lance Hansmann is a lifelong storyteller with a deep love for history and narrative. A proud sixth-generation resident of Steamboat Rock, Iowa—a quaint village nestled along the Iowa River—Lance grew up immersed in the rhythms of small-town life and the echoes of local legend.

It was there, during his youth, where he first heard whispers of the infamous Rainsbarger gang. Their tale of crime and controversy fascinated him and ultimately inspired his debut novel.

Blending a keen eye for historical detail with the heart of a novelist, Lance brings to life the forgotten stories of the American Midwest. The Night Riders of Hardin County is his tribute to an era of outlaws, buried secrets, and the pursuit of justice.

When he’s not writing, Lance enjoys spending time with his wife, Tiffany, and their two dogs, Lou and Magnolia.
